Our Mission and Projects

Improve Water Supplies of Indigenous Communities in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala

We are the Research Triangle Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders USA, which is a non-profit organization with the motto “Unleashing Great Minds on Great Problems”. EWB USA has 16,800 volunteer members in professional and student chapters nationwide which work with communities to find appropriate solutions for water supply, sanitation, energy, agriculture, civil works and structures.

Our international projects focus on providing an improved water supply to the Mayan villages of Chipozo and of Chiquiguital in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. The projects will utilize a solar-powered system to pump water to the community from a clean spring.  The project in Chipozo is now operational providing 30,000 liters of water per day to the community, and the project in Chiquiguital is now being initated.  Learn more about EWB and these projects in this presentation.  We need both participation in the effort and, of course, resources to fund the effort.
