Our Mission

Improve Water Supplies of Chipozo, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala

We are the Research Triangle Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders USA, which is a non-profit organization with the motto “Unleashing Great Minds on Great Problems”. EWB USA has 16,800 volunteer members in professional and student chapters nationwide which work with communities to find appropriate solutions for water supply, sanitation, energy, agriculture, civil works and structures.

This project is focused on providing an improved water supply to the Mayan village of Chipozo in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, which is about 45 minutes northwest of the town of San Cristobal. The project will use a solar-powered system to pump water to the community from a clean spring, a distance of one kilometer and 500 feet of elevation gain.  We need both participation in the effort and, of course, resources to fund the effort.
